Shellharbour firefighters tackle two blazes in single night
Shellharbour fire crews fought a van fire and a garage fire two hours apart, destroying both structures.
At 10:51pm Saturday, crews from Shellharbour and Albion Park raced to Parklands Drive where a van in a carport was well alight. The van and carport were destroyed, with flames reaching one room of the house.
Firefighters had it under control by 12:15am. After returning to station, crews were called to a second fire on Killalea Drive in Shell Cove.
A garage was engulfed by fire; crews put it out in about 20 minutes and stopped it spreading to the house, though smoke and heat damaged the building. A man in his 60s was treated at the first scene and taken to hospital.
