Rinehart bankrolls One Nation with $8m Brisbane office
Mining billionaire Gina Rinehart has purchased an $8 million Spring Hill office for One Nation's new headquarters.
Gina Rinehart has bought an $8 million office in Spring Hill, Brisbane that will become One Nation's new headquarters. The mining billionaire bought the three-storey property through Hancock Prospecting, her company.
One Nation will move there once the fit-out is done. Rinehart's spokesman said the party pays a commercial rate.
Barnaby Joyce defended the deal, saying One Nation pays market price and funds itself through donors, not taxpayers. Rinehart is One Nation's largest donor.
She has held $10,000 fundraising dinners at her Hawthorne mansion and $15,000 events on her private jet. In April she gave the party a $1.5 million aircraft and $2 million in donations from close associates.
