Main Sequence backs Kinoxis drug to ease dementia pain

Main Sequence invested $5 million in Kinoxis Therapeutics to develop a drug targeting brain inflammation in dementia.

CSIRO-backed venture capital firm Main Sequence committed $5 million to Kinoxis Therapeutics. Kinoxis Therapeutics, an Australian biotech startup, is developing a drug to ease pain and agitation in dementia patients.

The funding is part of a $9.25 million total round. The round also includes a $2.5 million grant from Dementia Australia.

The drug targets brain inflammation. Other investors backing the startup include UniSuper, the University of Sydney and Uniseed.

Kinoxis is focused on regulating brain inflammation to improve quality of life for people with dementia.
