Sweetbrew opens Lilydale cafe in three-week sprint
Sweetbrew, the Launceston cafe roaster, opened a new location in Lilydale today after signing the lease just three weeks ago.
Sweetbrew, one of Launceston's best-known cafes, has expanded into Lilydale with a venue that opened today on Main Road. Management Tim and Archana Brammall and Yorick Fitzgerald signed the lease on 1 September and completed the fitout in just three weeks.
The cafe occupies a former petrol station site that previously housed Lock Shop Cafe and Bread + Butter. Local trade workers rallied to help meet the tight deadline, with the coffee machine arriving just hours before opening.
The space brings back Sweetbrew's original communal table from its George Street location and a replica mural from that premises. The cafe opens today from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
From Tuesday it will operate seven days a week from 7:30am to 2pm, with free coffee offered at the launch. The team hopes the venue becomes a hub for the Lilydale community and a stop for travellers heading toward Bridport and Derby.
