RSPCA investigates Victorian property where racehorses were shot
The RSPCA is investigating after footage showed former racehorses being shot on a Shepparton property.
The Farm Transparency Project released footage of horses being shot inside holding pens on a property near Shepparton. The bodies were then transported to a knackery.
The animal welfare group said the animals were slaughtered on a property without a commercial slaughter license. RSPCA Victoria received a report on October 29 and opened an investigation.
The group identified several animals as former racehorses, including Can Get A Witness and Deseronto. These horses had earned significant prize money.
No charges have been laid and the investigation is ongoing.
