Underwater brawl erupts at overcrowded Maldives dive site

A Chinese diving instructor says three divers attacked him underwater and tried to remove his mask at an overcrowded reef dive site.

Xiao Du was diving at the Kuda Rah Thila site in the Maldives with a friend when a man pushed him from below. As he turned to swim away, another diver's fins struck him.

Du then claims a second diver grabbed his arm and tried to remove his mask and regulator, with a third man joining in. Video from a boat above showed Du shouting at the divers: "You try to kill me underwater."

Du told local media the dive site was crowded. The diving company said it takes the incident seriously and has submitted the matter to authorities for investigation.
