Cessnock City Council demands Meta remove assault videos
Cessnock City Council demanded Meta remove Facebook videos of a roadside assault on council workers after they endured ongoing public abuse.
A roadside confrontation last week left one council worker with an allegedly run-over foot. Videos of the incident have circulated on Meta's platforms.
Council says the footage exposes staff to ongoing public abuse and allows community members to recognize and target workers. Mayor Daniel Watton called the continued presence of videos "very, very disturbing" and demanded Meta remove them "as soon as possible."
Council has reported the content, but the videos remain online. Watton warned that online harassment follows workers home and damages their safety and privacy.
