Death after two-hour ambulance wait triggers Queensland review
Two Queensland patients died in separate incidents while waiting for urgent medical care.
A 53-year-old man with chest pain called Triple Zero on Saturday night from his Annerley home in Brisbane. When paramedics arrived two hours later, they found him dead.
A second death deepened concerns. An 80-year-old waited about three hours for a bed at Mater Private Hospital.
When admitted, he had a cardiac episode and died. He had a do-not-resuscitate order in place.
The Queensland Ambulance Service and Health Minister Tim Nicholls both announced reviews to check whether procedures were followed. Ambulance ramping across Queensland's 26 major hospital emergency departments is now at 42 per cent, showing the system is under strain.
