Cameron, Holmes short on fitness as Geelong's season ends

Geelong coach Chris Scott revealed Jeremy Cameron and Max Holmes lacked match fitness for Friday's losing semifinal against Fremantle.

Geelong's 2026 season ended Friday after losing to Fremantle in a semifinal. Coach Chris Scott revealed two key players were short on match fitness.

Jeremy Cameron battled an arm nerve injury all season. Cameron had shoulder surgery in July and returned for only the final three games.

Max Holmes came back early from a syndesmosis injury sustained in round 19. He played both finals but his impact was well below his usual standard.

Scott said both players deserved credit for persisting through injury. But he said they needed more time to build form.

Cameron will now undergo surgery on his arm.
