Zane Duursma swaps North for Demons, just three years after the draft
North Melbourne gets draft picks No.33 and 49 for Duursma and pick No.52, and the deal was completed Tuesday.
Zane Duursma, a former No.4 draft pick, has been traded from North Melbourne to the Melbourne Demons. Manager David Trotter says Duursma must improve his work rate if he is to progress as many expected.
Trotter said things have not worked for three years, and Duursma takes a lot of responsibility for that. Trotter said Duursma was always going to take a while, and North knew that when it drafted him.
Trotter said some people think Duursma is taking the easy way out, but he disagrees. Trotter says the move means a pay cut and a risk for Duursma.
Duursma has played 38 games and kicked 28 goals so far. Duursma has struggled to justify the hype around his high draft spot.
