Manchester City appeals guilty verdict on £900m financial breaches
Manchester City filed an appeal Thursday against an independent commission's guilty finding for using fake contracts to inflate revenue and mask costs.
Manchester City appealed a ruling that found the club guilty of serious money rule breaches. The commission said City used fake commercial contracts to inflate income and hide costs over nine years from 2009-10 to 2017-18, totalling more than £900 million.
City was found guilty on all money breach charges and three of four charges of failing to cooperate. The club has denied wrongdoing throughout.
An independent appeal board will hear the case within 12 weeks. A decision should come within 30 days of the hearing.
