ACT launches inquiry into Operation Kingfisher corruption findings
A standing committee will examine ACT government procurement and integrity systems following corruption findings in a school modernisation project.
Corruption findings in a school modernisation project sparked the inquiry. Two officials acted corruptly: Joshua Ceramidas, chief of staff to former Education Minister Yvette Berry, and Katy Haire, former Director-General of the Education Directorate.
Both denied a cheaper, better option for the Campbell Primary School project. Committee chair Elizabeth Lee said the inquiry will strengthen systems against corrupt conduct.
The inquiry will identify financial and legal risks, review previous procurement decisions, and clarify how the Integrity Commissioner can access government documents. It will also monitor the management of individuals named in the Operation Kingfisher report.
