Hon Hai Chairman Young Liu targets half the AI server market
Hon Hai wants to raise its AI server share from 40% to 50% within two years.
Foxconn chairman Young Liu met with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on Friday to discuss their existing partnership. Liu told Bloomberg he plans to boost his company's share of the global AI server market from 40% to 50% over the next two years.
Young Liu also wants to lift gross margins to about 10% by making more high-value components. Liu stressed that AI infrastructure demand is real and lasting, not speculative.
"This is not fake demand," he said. "This is real, so that's a good problem.
As long as we are able to keep up with the demand, we'll make money." Hon Hai and the US government have invested about $20 billion into American manufacturing over the past three to four years.
