ASIC wants earlier IPO ads to test demand
The proposal would let companies advertise share offers earlier, if they meet tight constraints.
ASIC is proposing to let companies advertise share offers before a prospectus is lodged, but only under tight rules. The regulator says the ASX had 1,989 listed companies in 2024, down from 2,073 in 2014.
It hopes earlier advertising will help companies judge demand sooner. The change would bring Australia closer to the UK and New Zealand.
