Suns confident Ava Usher's knee injury isn't serious
Ava Usher suffered a knee injury in Sunday's loss. The Suns' coach says he is quietly confident it isn't serious.
Ava Usher crumpled to the turf in the final minutes of Gold Coast's 18-point loss to Hawthorn on Sunday. She immediately grabbed her right knee.
Suns coach Rhyce Shaw said the team was "quietly confident" it wasn't as bad as first feared. Usher has already ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament once before.
She missed nearly two years before debuting this season. She's had a stunning first year, earning a Telstra AFLW Rising Star nomination and selection in the All-Australian squad earlier this week.
Despite her initial distress, she returned to the field after the final siren. She had no ice on the area, and Shaw said she was in good spirits.
