Riverina village publishes fresh history spanning seven generations
The Riverina village of Burrumbuttock has launched a 200-page history book covering 150 years of community life.
Burrumbuttock is a small village in the Riverina. The community is marking its past with a book called From Then to Now.
The book has 200 pages split into nine chapters. Topics range from sport to local services, drawn from community stories and scanned old records.
A 2025 version had formatting errors. This edition adds 50 more pages.
They include family histories, sporting records and personal accounts. The cover shows a 1918 photograph of horses ploughing land to grow crops for soldiers returning from World War I. People whose families span seven generations, plus local historians, helped with the research.
They found information from the Albury Banner newspaper and government records. The book launches Friday, October 9, at the Burrumbuttock Public Hall and costs $50.
