Swanbourne walking trail closes until March 2027 for hospice park
The coastal bush trail at Swanbourne closes for six months while 7,500 native plants transform the adjacent parkland into a community space.
A popular bush-to-beach walking track in Swanbourne, Perth, will close until March 2027. The closure makes way for a community park opposite the new Sandcastles Children's Hospice.
The Perth Children's Hospital Foundation is developing the 20-year vacant site. The project will add new pathways, gardens, and gathering spaces.
The project will plant 7,500 native species. It will increase tree canopy coverage by up to 50 per cent.
There have also been discussions about a new boardwalk with wheelchair access. The City of Nedlands approved a six-month management agreement.
PCHF will pay for all landscaping and maintenance for 40 years at no cost to ratepayers.
