St Michael's Primary in Mittagong will close in 2029. The Bishop of Wollongong announced it will merge with another Catholic school in Bowral.
The combined school will become Corpus Christi Catholic Parish Primary. The Diocese gave two reasons for the closure.
There are fewer students enrolling and long-term costs are too high. More than 1,600 people signed a petition in three days against the closure.
Parents said no one asked them about the decision. They felt shocked and blindsided by the news.
