Jeremiah Rivers case unsolved five years after WA man's disappearance
A coronial inquest found WA man Jeremiah Rivers likely met with foul play. His disappearance remains unsolved five years on.
October 18 marks five years since Jeremiah 'Jayo' Rivers disappeared while on a trip with six other men in Queensland. The Gija man from Warmun in Western Australia's Kimberley was 27 when he vanished.
A coronial inquest in 2024 found Rivers was dead and likely met with foul play. The coroner found a reasonable suspicion of homicide.
However, the coroner could not identify who was responsible. The inquest found the group gave at least seven different accounts of events.
This suggested possible collusion. Some witnesses described the trip as a hunting expedition.
Others said it involved moving cannabis. Rivers' family believes he learned about the drugs and wanted out.
Police restarted their search in May 2024 after receiving new information. They sent teams to the remote Noccundra area.
The investigation remains open. The family is still waiting for answers and justice.
