Bomb threat forces Quantum DC to postpone Adelaide forum

A bomb threat forced Quantum DC to postpone a forum about its 1200-megawatt data centre plan east of Adelaide.

Quantum DC postponed a community forum Thursday after receiving a bomb threat. SA Police were told about it.

The forum at Tungkillo Soldiers Memorial Hall would have discussed the company's 1200-megawatt data centre on 220 hectares of farmland. The site is east of Adelaide.

The project has upset local farmers and residents. They worry about the environment and loss of farmland.

Building it would need 150 to 250 million litres of water. Once running, it would use about 20 million litres per year.

Quantum DC wants to use South Australia's Essential Infrastructure pathway. This only has a 15-day public consultation.

Locals want a longer, more thorough review.
