NRLW rookie Palepale released by Dragons on compassionate grounds

NRLW rookie Seriah Palepale was released by St George Illawarra Dragons weeks after her arrest in a high-speed chase.

The St George Illawarra Dragons have released NRLW rookie Seriah Palepale from her contract on compassionate grounds. The 19-year-old made her debut on 29 August in a win against the Warriors.

Just days later, on 3 September, she was arrested. Police found her speeding in an Appin area.

She refused to stop. This led to a high-speed chase that reached 200kmh in a 90kmh zone.

Palepale crashed into a power pole while trying to avoid roadworks and spent the night in custody. She pleaded guilty in Campbelltown Local Court on 4 September to police pursuit, failing to stop, driving while suspended, and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45kmh.

The Dragons said the release was best for both sides. They acknowledged the seriousness of the court matters.
