Defence argues Beau Lamarre-Condon acted in self-defence at trial
A gun barrel swab partially matched Davies's DNA, but the defence says DNA reaching the barrel through a door hole approaches zero.
Beau Lamarre-Condon, 31, a police officer, is accused of fatally shooting Jesse Baird and Luke Davies. The shootings happened in Baird's Paddington home on 19 February 2024.
Lamarre-Condon has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder and one charge of aggravated break and enter. The defence alleges the men were killed in two separate incidents, and that Lamarre-Condon was acting in self-defence.
A swab from the gun barrel returned a DNA profile that partially matched Davies. Defence lawyer John Stratton suggested the chance of that DNA reaching the barrel through a door hole approaches zero.
Crime scene officer Greg Moon disagreed, saying: "I believe it can still happen." The bullet hole in the bedroom door, which the prosecution alleges Davies was shot through, tested negative for blood.
The trial before Justice Natalie Adams in the New South Wales Supreme Court is continuing.
