Glanvill brothers leave Lavington for Gold Coast AFL move
Best-and-fairest winner Jack Glanvill and his brother Billy, a two-time award winner, have joined the Broadbeach Cats in the Gold Coast.
Jack Glanvill, 21, won Lavington's senior best and fairest this year with 116 votes after moving from the wing to midfield. Billy Glanvill finished fifth in clearances and second in contested possessions, with five seasons at the club.
Jack and Billy Glanvill have now signed with Broadbeach Cats in the QAFL. Jack praised Lavington's approach to player development, saying the club backs its own players rather than importing talent from across Australia.
He cited Jack Costello and Jesse Hart, who moved to Geelong's VFL, and Ewan Mackinlay, who played in the AFL for Port Adelaide. Jack is drawn to the Gold Coast lifestyle and plans to stay a couple of years before potentially returning to Lavington.
Billy thanked the coaching staff and volunteers, calling it "a bloody good club."
