Venter blasts Saracens media rules as 'autocratic'
Brendan Venter objected to required media duties, comparing league rules to autocratic control.
Venter returned to Saracens in summer as director of rugby. Venter's title is now head of culture and technical director.
Venter's no-show at a pre-season media event cost the club £5,000. Venter later appeared at a press conference.
But he strongly objected to the requirement. "I have the desire as a human being not to want to talk," he said.
The obligation, he added, sounds like "something from an autocratic land". Premier Rugby rules require the most senior coach at each club to conduct weekly media duties.
Venter's previous spell at Saracens (2011) was marked by controversies with referees and officials.
