Joyce warns Australia could face riots without tougher immigration

Barnaby Joyce warned Australia risks violent unrest like France if immigration lacks proper checks.

One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce spoke to 2GB radio on Monday. Joyce said Australia could face riots like those in France unless it toughens immigration rules.

Some people entering Western countries want to destroy their adopted nations rather than join them, Joyce said. Joyce argued Australia needed a shared national culture instead of focusing on multiculturalism.

Joyce pointed to the Bondi attack as an example of serious violence on home soil. Joyce said common sense must guide who Australia accepts as immigrants.

Not screening properly would "import problems", he warned. He also raised concerns about Islamic fundamentalism in Sydney.

He said it becomes harder to remove people once they settle and start families.
