Sonia Hornery will not run in next year's NSW state election. She was the Member for Wallsend for 20 years.
Hornery was the only Hunter Labor MP to survive the 2011 election loss. The Liberal Party made huge gains across the region then.
Hornery said the decision came after months of careful thought. Premier Chris Minns praised her as a fierce local member.
