Sydney teacher jailed 15 months for sexual offences against students
Tayla Lee Brailey, 32, received 15 months prison for sexual offences against two male students at a Sydney high school.
Tayla Lee Brailey was a teacher at a Sydney high school and was sentenced to 15 months in prison for sexual offences against two teenage students in 2024. Brailey pleaded guilty to four charges, including sexual touching and sexual intercourse with a person under her care.
She also used a carriage service to send and access child abuse material. Judge Elizabeth Ryan said the breach of trust between teacher and student required imprisonment.
One student was so ashamed that he left school before finishing year 12. He reported sleep loss and flashbacks.
Brailey had started contact with one teenager. A psychologist found she was likely in a manic episode when the offences happened.
She will be eligible for parole on 24 April 2027. She must be on the NSW Police child protection register for 15 years.
