Apple reveals Oct 28 launch event with new Macs expected

Apple announced a launch event in Los Angeles on October 28, with analysts expecting new Mac models.

Apple sent invitations for an "Apple Experience in Los Angeles" on October 28. The tagline "Pro and tell" suggests focus on high-end "Pro" devices.

Analyst Ben Reitzes expects new Macs to be introduced, including a touchscreen notebook. CEO John Ternus succeeded Tim Cook last month.

The launch marks a meaningful shift in Apple's product schedule. Macs were updated with new chips in August and MacBook Pro in spring.

But the iMac desktop has not been refreshed since October 2024. Mac sales account for about 10 per cent of Apple's overall revenue.

The company remains heavily reliant on iPhones.

Why it mattersA touchscreen Mac would signal Apple reversing its long-held position against touch laptops; the event timing and focus on Pro devices suggests major AI-related hardware advances.

AustraliaAustralian Apple customers and developers may see new options for creative work and AI development, though Macs remain a small fraction of Apple's Australian sales.
