Cruise's shoulder punch broke tension filming A Few Good Men
Tom Cruise punched Jack Nicholson on the shoulder while filming the famous courtroom scene, in good humour between takes.
Kevin Pollak, who was in A Few Good Men, recently recalled the iconic "You can't handle the truth" scene on Steve Kmetko's podcast. During the intense moment when Cruise's character corners Nicholson's, the cameras were positioned to catch Nicholson's reaction.
While Cruise delivered his lines, Nicholson was making an exaggerated clown face to stay loose. Once the take finished, Cruise playfully punched Nicholson in the shoulder.
Both men laughed immediately, breaking the tension. The 1992 legal drama was written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Rob Reiner.
Despite the intensity of the film, Reiner believed the set had to be fun.
