The Ducks Restaurant closes Tasmanian venue after four years, relocates to
The Ducks Restaurant closed its Strathlynn location in April after about four years and moved to Strahan.
The Ducks Restaurant has closed its doors at Strathlynn. Strathlynn is a wedding and events venue overlooking the Tamar River in northern Tasmania.
Owners Mark and Ruth De Bont ran the restaurant for about four years before relocating to Strahan in April. The couple said the closure was a difficult decision.
They were grateful for community support over the years. Strathlynn includes a large dining and function centre, commercial kitchen and outdoor decking with river views.
It sits within Ninth Island Vineyard, owned by Pipers Brook. Early interest from potential new operators has mainly come from interstate.
Agents hope for a local buyer.
Why it mattersHospitality venues in premium tourism locations are highly sought; this vacancy could attract investment to the Tamar region.
AustraliaThe Tasmanian hospitality sector is watching this venue's reopening, especially as tourism rebounds in regional Launceston.
