Picking fruit from others' gardens is theft in Australia
Verges are council land, but you still need the property owner's permission to remove fruit.
Taking fruit from someone's garden is illegal because it is theft or trespassing. The same rule applies to produce on the verge outside their home, even though the verge is council land.
