Harry Styles tour lifts Sydney hotel rates by 25% to $630 a night
Hotel bookings in Sydney and Melbourne have surged up to 30% around Harry Styles' six concert dates in November and December.
Harry Styles' upcoming Australian tour is driving a sharp rise in hotel prices and bookings across Sydney and Melbourne. Sydney hotels are now charging an average of $630 per night around the concert dates, up $127 or 25% from last year, while Melbourne rooms have risen to $475 a night, up 8%.
Styles will perform four shows at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium on November 27 and 28 and December 2 and 4, followed by two concerts at Sydney's Accor Stadium on December 12 and 13. Hotel bookings across both cities jumped 30% compared to the same period last year.
The booking surge began before tickets even went on sale, January 23, the day Styles announced the Australian concerts, was the single biggest booking day for Melbourne's concert nights. On presale and general sale days, concert-night bookings reached 100 to 150 times normal daily volumes.
Guests are also booking shorter stays, down 10%, suggesting fans are visiting primarily for the shows rather than extending their trips.
