Singh's life sentence for Cordingley murder faces Brisbane appeal court
Singh, 42, will have his appeal heard in Brisbane on Tuesday morning.
Rajwinder Singh, 42, has launched an appeal against his murder conviction and sentence. Singh's appeal will be heard at the Court of Appeal in Brisbane on Tuesday morning.
Last year, Singh was sentenced to life in prison, with at least 25 years before parole. Toyah Cordingley, 24, was killed in 2018 on Wangetti Beach in Far North Queensland.
Cordingley had been exercising her dog on the beach when she was attacked. The day after the murder, Singh left Australia for India.
Singh was arrested in New Delhi more than four years later, after living in hiding. Singh was extradited from India and charged with murder in 2022.
A retrial in December found him guilty, after a first trial in March 2025 ended without a verdict.
- Wangetti Beach, Far North Queensland
- Where it happened
- 3.7 billion times more likely to be Singh

- More than four years
- Time in hiding
Why it mattersSingh's appeal against his conviction and sentence is heard on Tuesday, so the case is not over yet.
AustraliaNo direct Australian effect yet, since the ruling only decides Singh's own case in Queensland.
