Roy Kidd wins third straight gold at Australian taekwondo championships
Roy Kidd won his third straight gold in freestyle poomsae at the Australian Taekwondo Championships in Canberra.
Roy Kidd and Payton Massey both brought home gold medals from the Australian Taekwondo Championships in Canberra. Roy and Payton were part of a 12-strong Tasmanian team from Hoju Martial Arts in Launceston.
Roy's strength is freestyle poomsae, a mix of gymnastics and martial arts. Roy's signature move is a 540 spin kick.
Payton started in the sport to learn self-defence, then fell in love with it. He won four medals: gold in team poomsae, silvers and bronzes across other events.
The Tasmanian team finished with 14 medals total. That's two golds, four silvers and eight bronzes.
Coach Josh Warren says that having the discipline to know when to use moves is just as important as the skill to perform them.
