Murder suspect's helpline call played as jury hears trauma claims
Beau Lamarre-Condon called a police helpline claiming bullying and trauma while driving to hand himself in over alleged murders.
The 31-year-old former police officer is accused of killing presenter Jesse Baird and Qantas host Luke Davies at Baird's Paddington home on February 19, 2024. On February 23, four days later, he called a police helpline while heading to surrender.
In the call, he claimed he had been severely bullied by multiple NSW Police members and suffered trauma, repeating the word multiple times. Beau Lamarre-Condon told the operator he had struggled with mental health issues and lack of sleep since joining the force.
He pleaded not guilty and is arguing self-defence in a jury trial before the NSW Supreme Court. A related source also reports he claimed he wanted to tell the truth for the families of the couple he allegedly killed.
