Conor McKenna becomes the first Irish-born player to win two AFL flags after Brisbane's comeback win.
Conor McKenna walked onto the premiership dais draped in the Irish flag after becoming a historic figure in Australian football. McKenna is now the first player from Ireland to win two AFL flags.
McKenna won his first with Brisbane in 2024, his second on Saturday as the Lions clawed back from 17 points down to beat Fremantle. McKenna had left Essendon to return home to Ireland, but Brisbane convinced him back in 2022.
He entered the grand final unsigned for 2027, but signalled after the match that he intends to stay and take up the club's offer of a one-year extension.
