Ashcroft chases three Norm Smith Medals at 22

Will Ashcroft is on the brink of football history. By Saturday, the 22-year-old Brisbane midfielder could win a third Norm Smith Medal, the award for best player in the Grand Final.
Only Richmond legend Dustin Martin has ever done it before. Martin was 29 and had played 244 games when he claimed his third.
Ashcroft will be 22 with just 85 games under his belt. Four other players have won two Norm Smith Medals: Gary Ayres, Andrew McLeod, Luke Hodge, and Ashcroft's teammate Lachie Neale.
But none have reached three. Ashcroft has won the award in his last two Grand Final appearances, with 30 and 32 disposals.
He was best on ground in a junior Grand Final too, back in 2022 with Sandringham.
