Canberra animal rescuer Jane Faulder killed on NSW highway helping injured
Jane Faulder, 60, was struck by a vehicle while moving an injured kangaroo from the Monaro Hwy near Bredbo on Friday evening.
Jane Faulder, 60, from Canberra, died after being hit by a car on the Monaro Hwy about 1km south of Bredbo at 6.30pm on Friday. Jane Faulder had reportedly stopped to move an injured kangaroo from the road to prevent a collision.
Paramedics treated her at the scene but could not save her. Faulder was a former public servant and passionate animal welfare advocate who worked in foster and rescue.
She was also a longtime member of the Australian Calisthenic Federation, competing for 50 years and described as much-loved by the community. The 54-year-old driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing and was not injured.
Police investigations are underway.
