Australia's big polluters cut emissions by less than one percent in two years

A Climate Council report found 197 large industrial facilities cut emissions by just 0.4 per cent over two years under the Safeguard Mechanism.

Why it mattersIf the scheme stays weak, Australia will not reach its climate goal of cutting emissions 62 to 70 per cent by 2035. Stronger rules are needed to force real cuts from heavy polluters.
