Woman dies after fall from Adelaide hotel during Halloween night
A woman in her 20s died after falling from a Rosemont Hotel balcony early Sunday morning.
Shortly after 4am on Sunday, a woman fell from the Rosemont Hotel on the corner of Hindley Street and Morphett Street in Adelaide's CBD. The woman was celebrating Halloween with friends and was attempting to climb a drain pipe when she fell to the pavement below.
Emergency services arrived quickly and provided urgent care, but she died at the scene. Witnesses saw her try to scale the pipe before losing her footing.
A bystander, Josh Hughes, 27, said he heard the pipe snap and rushed to help. Police say the circumstances are not believed to be suspicious.
The incident may have been filmed by revellers nearby, prompting a strong appeal from authorities asking the public not to share any footage on social media out of respect for the woman and her family.
A report will be prepared for the state coroner.
