Alleged Iranian plot targets RAF base hosting US bombers
Two London men charged under UK national security laws after suspicious activity at RAF Fairford.
Police responded on 27 September after a farmer reported suspicious activity near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. Seven men were arrested during the investigation.
All were released on bail this month. Mohmed Abdulkarim and Nouman Essghir are both 24 and from London.
They have now been charged. Abdulkarim faces one count of helping a foreign intelligence service.
Essghir was charged with entering a prohibited place in a way that harms the UK. RAF Fairford had hosted US bombers used for strikes against Iran.
They were withdrawn on security grounds shortly after the initial arrests. Counter Terrorism Policing said it was highly likely that there is Iranian state involvement in the suspected plot.
Iran has consistently denied any involvement. Five of the original seven men arrested remain on bail as the investigation continues.
