Pensioner sentenced over assault on Ballarat bus
Andrew Lindsay, 76, received a one-year good behaviour order for touching an 18-year-old woman's bare thigh on a Ballarat bus.
A 76-year-old man was sentenced in Ballarat Magistrates' Court on October 21 for unlawful assault. Andrew Lindsay touched the bare thigh of an 18-year-old woman on a bus on December 29, 2025.
Lindsay repeatedly told her she looked beautiful. The woman moved seats because she felt uneasy, but Lindsay continued talking to her.
Magistrate Ronald Saines called the conduct 'entirely unacceptable'. The court heard Lindsay had bipolar disorder and was not correctly medicated at the time.
He received a one-year good behaviour order, must donate $500 to court funds, and continue mental health treatment. The magistrate warned any repeat would result in jail.
