Chief medical officer quits after two months at regional hospital
A hospital's report shows more violent attacks on staff, as its chief medical officer leaves after only two months.
Albury Wodonga Health reported more violent attacks on staff, according to its annual report. Chief medical officer Dr Simon Craig will leave after only two months.
Dr Simon Craig said the role was not the right fit. Dr Craig had previously worked at the hospital for more than 14 years as director of obstetrics.
He returned briefly in 2022. Ms Delroi, also just three months in, said several factors explain the increase.
These include staff being more willing to report attacks, more emergency patients affected by alcohol and drugs, and long wait times. The hospital has two security guards on site 24 hours a day.
Ms Delroi said she monitors violence trends weekly and would add guards if needed.
