My landlord is selling in NSW. Do I have to move?
Not without a valid notice: 90 days for a planned sale, 30 days once it is sold.
Your clock
- 90 days, 60 on terms up to 6 months: Planned sale
- 30 days: Already sold
The rule in NSW
- A lease can carry on after a sale. A sale cannot end a fixed term early.
- It needs proof, like the contract, and a sale needing vacant possession.
- Buyers: 14 days' written notice, then 2 visits a week at most, 48 hours' notice each.
- Advert photos: 7 days' notice, written consent to publish your things.
After a planned sale notice, they need approval to rent it out again within 6 months, unless it has sold.
What to send
