Can my landlord kick me out in the NT?
Yes. In the NT a landlord can end a periodic tenancy with 60 days' notice and no reason.
Your clock
- 60 days: No-reason notice
- Over 7 days to pay: Rent notice
- Within 5 business days: Order takes effect
The rule in the NT
- Fixed term: 60 days' notice before the end, no reason.
- Rent 14 days late: over 7 days to pay, then the landlord can apply to NTCAT.
- Only NTCAT can order you out; it can suspend an order up to 90 days for severe hardship.
A notice missing the address, date or signature has no effect. You can ask NTCAT to declare that.
