My landlord is selling in Queensland. Do I have to move?
Only if they give a Notice to leave for sale: 2 months, and not before a fixed term ends.
Your clock
- 48 hours: Notice for each viewing
- 14 days, unless told in writing first: Your exit if shown or advertised in your first 2 months
The rule in Queensland
- A sale alone does not end a lease. The sale must need the place empty.
- To show buyers they must give a notice of intention to sell first.
- After you go, no new tenancy for 6 months, unless the sale failed.
No open house or auction without your written consent.
What to send
Is your notice a notice of intention to sell, or a Notice to leave?
