Can my landlord keep my bond for cleaning in SA?
Only if the damage is beyond normal wear, the place was not left reasonably clean, or you owe rent.
Your clock
- 14 days, set in the Commissioner's notice: Your dispute
- Bond is paid to the person who applied: No reply
- CBS on 131 882: Advice
The rule in SA
- Fair wear and tear cannot be claimed.
- The start and end inspection sheet is the main evidence.
- If you do not agree, the Commissioner posts you a notice and you have 14 days to dispute it.
- A dispute goes to conciliation, then can go to SACAT.
Watch for the Commissioner's notice in the post. If it is not disputed in 14 days, the bond is paid out.
