My landlord is selling in Victoria. Do I have to move?
Not without a valid notice to vacate: 90 days or more, never before a fixed term ends.
Your clock
- 14 days before the first visit: Notice of intention to sell
- 48 hours: Notice for each visit
- twice a week, 1 hour: Buyer visits
- 14 days, unless told before signing: Your exit after that notice
The rule in Victoria
- A sale alone does not end the lease. The notice needs the prescribed form and proof.
- You get half a day's rent or $30, whichever is more, for each sales inspection.
After a sale notice, no letting for 6 months, unless VCAT allows.
What to send
Please send the documents that support the sale notice for [address].
