The 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia is drawing strong global interest. Ticket buyers from 141 countries have purchased nearly half of all tickets sold so far.
Australians account for 56 percent of tickets sold. The United Kingdom leads overseas purchases at 15 percent, followed by France, New Zealand, Ireland, the USA and Japan.
World Cup managing director Chris Stanley said international demand is above normal expectations. Organisers usually see a 65-35 split between domestic and international buyers.
Demand has come from surprising markets, with Chilean fans buying tickets in particularly high numbers. The tournament features 24 teams and 52 matches for the first time.
2.5 million tickets are available. The final ticket release begins October 1, though limited stock remains for many matches.
