NSW Health opens redundancy offers to non-frontline staff
NSW Health is seeking voluntary redundancies from non-frontline staff across all local health districts, with acceptances ending by January 15, 2027.
NSW Health announced a voluntary redundancy program for permanent staff who don't provide direct patient care. Hunter New England Health, which employs more than 11,700 full-time staff, is affected.
The program also covers NSW Ambulance, Pathology, and other statewide services. Frontline roles, nurses, doctors, allied health professionals, and support staff, are protected.
Staff have up to 14 days to accept the offer. Those who do will receive career support and outplacement help, with final departure no later than January 15, 2027.
Union leaders have raised concern. The Health Services Union stressed that no job should be cut if it harms patient care.
